…about adoring our Lord

Songs often come to my mind during the day.  Sometimes, Bible verses come to mind as well.  If I am around people, I don’t always speak those songs or verses aloud.  I’ve been thinking that maybe I should - always!  This morning the song “Oh, Come All Ye Faithful” came to mind - specifically the chorus that says, “Oh, come let us adore Him. Oh, come let us adore Him. Oh, come lets us adore Him, Christ the Lord!”  And I began wondering how many of us truly express our adoration for the King of Heaven and earth who gave His life that we might live forever in union with Him at any time other than Christmas?

Okay.  So, those thoughts turned inward and I began to question my own devotion to the One who gave His life for me - not for the whole world, but for ME!!   A couple of friends “kidnapped” me to go caroling this week and during one stop I made a misstep and took a tumble.  I wasn’t badly hurt, just a few scraps and sore muscles.  My glasses got broken but they were fixed the next day by the kind people at a local optometrist office and FOR FREE!  So, coming out relatively unscathed, were my first thoughts of praise and gratefulness to God that He kept me from much worse consequences.  No!  My first thoughts were about how clumsy I am and embarrassed at being seen falling and causing my friends inconvenience and…it was all about me.  It took me two days to begin to sing, “Oh, come let us adore Him.”

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Revelation 4:11)

Should not this be our prayer and anthem every single day?  I pray that the Lord will continue to daily remind me of Who He Is!  And may we all be encouraged to  quote or sing aloud those verses and songs The Holy Spirit brings to mind!
