…about another poem from Bonnell

Stinkin’ Thinkin’

Am I called a fool, oh Lord?  I fast and pray for deliverance from my sin. Was I born to fight things within?  For this I have no control.  Father, deliver me and make me whole.  Touch me, oh Lord, my mighty King.  It’s hard to fight sinful things.  Where, my Father, is my strength?  I’m at the point I can hardly think.  O Lord, am I a fool to pray and fast and still sin, just dreaming my deliverance will begin?  I’m like the first; as Eve, it’s so easy to be deceived.  Touch me, Father, give me strength my Master. Am I doomed to sink?  Am I so low a person a touch from you is most uncertain?  Father, I give You all praise!  Let not Satan declare I’m unsaved!  Jesus, I ask you in agony, let not my life be a tragedy.  It’s You, Master, I want to serve.  But, Father, am I a fool, one who is undeserved?

As I read this poem, I began to think about how we all have questions and doubts about salvation. But if we do what Jesus instructed us to do - remain in Him - we will gain strength from the vine and the life force that flows from Him to us via the Holy Spirit. Immersing ourselves in God’s written word will make us strong and the doubts will begin to fall away. I urge any and all readers of this blog to get into the Bible! Prayerfully read it and get to know the One Who gave His life for you
