…about Babel
One world government and one world religion are not new concepts. Those ideas were prevalent in the 1960’s when I was in school and I am sure those concepts have been around for a lot longer than I have been alive. But the tenor of the presentation has become a bit more subtle, “What if we all got along?”, “What could we accomplish if 7 billion people all treated each other with love and respect?” I can tell you exactly what would happen, and why it won’t until the last days.
Every one of Adam’s descendants has been born with the sin nature. Every human, by nature, tries to get to heaven by his own devising. If we all spoke the same language and got along, we would again do what they did at Babel. Jesus said that there is only one way to heaven…through Him (John 14:6), and there is only one way to Him…to be drawn by the Father (John 6:44). God has disallowed full co-operation among men because their sin nature would dictate they again try to build “a tower” to heaven.
I recently heard a woman state that the reason God confused the languages and scattered the people across the earth was to form nations — so they could “police” each other. If one nation gets uppity and tries to take over, the other nations put them in their place. That explanation doesn’t stand up for me. What did GOD say was the reason for confusing their languages and scattering them?
Genesis 11:6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
God knew that there was only sin in the heart of men. God did not want them to perpetuate an even more evil people than He had destroyed in the flood.
