…about words
One day a BeeGee’s song came to mind. In particular the line, “It’s only words and words are all I have to steal your heart away.” In the current culture words are almost worthless. Anyone can assign any meaning to any word to suit their purpose. It is no wonder communication has broken down. The evolution of communication is a downward spiral that began on the day Adam and Eve chose to believe the Serpent rather than obey God. However, God does not change and so the words recorded for us in Scripture are sure, concrete and absolute! So, what did God say about words?
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Psalms 119:89 LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Hebrews 1:3a Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power,
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
God considers words of the utmost importance. He said what He meant and meant what He said. He considers words so important that without the preaching of His word, no one can be saved. He draws people by HIS words spoken by His people. The chosen hear truth and do as they are commanded…they repent, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and are saved.
