…about humility

Recently I was listening to the Bible in 2 Samuel.  David wanted to build a house for God and God was telling him why he shouldn’t.  This verse stuck out to me, “Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel:” (2Sa 7:8)

My first thought was that God always picks the smallest or most humble.  The more I thought about it the more it began to sound like what I used to tell my kids, “Don’t get too cocky!  I brought you into this world and I can take you out!”

Lest you laugh too loud, remember that God has said that it is He Who sets kings over nations as well as bringing those nations to ruin.  Jesus said that we should not fear men but He Who can cast both body and soul into hell (Matthew 10:28).
