…about “the devil made me do it”
Why do we always blame the Devil? My own thoughts can defeat me! Thinking no one wants to listen to what I have to say comes from experience, not the lies of the devil. I agree that he can exploit those negative experiences and use them against me. I also know that it is my thoughts - not his - that most often defeat me. The scripture doesn’t say to cast down every thought from the devil.
“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” (2 Corinthians 10:5 KJV)
I have a pretty vivid imagination and so if I use my imagination to think I am better than I am or, “God, I’ve got this!” My reasoning and pride are things that need to be corralled and taken into obedience to Christ.
