…about scripture
In case you haven’t noticed, I love the Bible and think an awful lot about what I read there. I facilitate a study at the church I attend called “The Bible in 90 Days.” The participants follow a reading schedule that allows a person to read the whole Bible in 90 days. Once a week we meet and discuss what we read. This is my second time as leader/facilitator and I have been very fortunate to have some people who know the Bible well. We also have some “newbies” who have never read the Bible from cover to cover and every person participates and learns from the others.
Yesterday as I was listening to Proverbs, I had to stop and look up what I thought I heard. In Proverbs it says, “ If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: for thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee” (Proverbs 25:21-22). Romans 12:20 says, “Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.” Paul was quoting scripture!!
Every day I see how the whole of scripture hangs together. God has never changed and what He has said will always remain as He is - immutable!
